Japanese Man Found Dead In Sawah Besar Apartment, Police: Confirmed COVID-19

JAKARTA - The Sawah Besar Sector Police (Polsek) confirmed the discovery of the body of a Japanese foreigner who was confirmed positive for COVID-19.

The victim died while undergoing independent isolation in one of the apartments in Sawah Besar.

"The results of the TKP processing show that the corpse was confirmed with COVID-19, therefore the Sawah Besar Police coordinated with the local COVID-19 Task Force to carry out the evacuation with recommended protocols," said the Head of Sawah Besar Police, AKP Maulana Mukarom, reported on Tuesday, February 9.

The Japanese foreigner with the initials HM (45), his family and representatives from the Japanese Embassy have been given information regarding HM's condition.

Not only the embassy, the family of HM also knew about the health condition of the man who is almost half a century old.

"We from the Sawah Besar Police have coordinated with the embassy concerned. The family already knows where he is, they also know his illness because the person concerned is in isolation independently in the apartment," said Maulana.

In addition, Maulana said that his party would still explore the reasons for HM undergoing independent isolation and not being hospitalized.

"We are investigating this information, why is he doing self-isolation in the apartment we are investigating. Of course we will convey the progress," said Maulana.
