KAI Warns Residents Of Train Railroads Don't Burn Garbage Carelessly

YOGYAKARTA - Management of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) (Persero) Operational Area 5 Purwokerto again reminded residents around the railroadbanks not to burn garbage preventing potential disturbances in train travel.

"Today, the Daop 5 Railway Operations Control Center (Pusdal Opka) has again received a report regarding grass burning near the rail line," said Head of PT KAI (Persero) Daop 5 Purwokerto Daniel Johannes Hutabarat in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, Wednesday, October 11, confiscated by Antara.

In this case, he said, the 68 Taksaka train driver for Gambir-Yogyakarta relations reported that there were people who burned grass near the KM 355+9 rail line between Purwokerto Station and Notog Station.

According to him, Pusdal Opka Daop 5 on Monday 9 October, also received a report that someone had cut down a tree while burning garbage and grass on the KM 393 + 4 / 5 rail line between Maos Station and Sikumpuh Station.

"burning garbage, grass, and so on near the railroad tracks that enter the road benefit room, the smoke caused by the burning can interfere with the driver's view," he explained.

In addition, he said, the hot temperature from the burning could also damage optical cables planted underground along the rail line.

In fact, he continued, the optical cable is a signal that ensures the safety of train travel.

"If the optical cable is damaged, the signal will be disrupted and potentially dangerous that could interfere with the safety and safety of train travel," he said.

According to him, the act of disposing of garbage near the rail line can also hinder the flow of water in the drainage, so that it can cause flooding and make the soil texture around it become clumpy and landslides, especially during the rainy season.

In this regard, Daniel said that KAI firmly did not justify the act of burning garbage and grass or littering along the rail line.

"The weather is currently still showing extreme weather where the temperature is quite hot accompanied by drought and strong winds. Of course, careless actions to dispose of cigarette butts or burn and throw garbage on the rail line will be very dangerous for train travel," he said.

He said his party together with related units had tried to disseminate the matter to residents around the rail line.

In addition, he said, his party also carried out patrols and banners on the prohibition of throwing and burning garbage along the side of the rail line.

According to him, all of this was done because the safety and security of train travel was a shared responsibility.

"Therefore, let's take care of each other not to take actions that can trigger potential harm to disrupt the safety and security of train travel," said Daniel.

Previously, the actions of individuals who burned grass near the rail line had also occurred on August 11, 2023, namely in addition to the upstream route KM 302+5, the road plot between Prupuk Station and Linggapura Station, and near the upstream route KM 353+0/1 between Purwokerto Station and Notog Station.
