Honda City Vs Toyota Vios, Competition For Middle Class Sedans That Are Qualityy In The Country
JAKARTA - Recently, Honda introduced an update to City's model for the Indonesian market by adding a Honda Sensing safety feature.
Being in the middle class sedan, Honda City comes with a more modern look to meet the mobility needs of the Indonesian people. However, City must compete with its tough competitor, Toyota All New Vios, who offers a sporty style than the previous generation. Like City, Toyota Vios also offers driving comfort with the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) safety feature.
Although the SUV is increasingly popular, the competition between the two sedans still characterizes the Indonesian automotive industry. Below are the comparisons between the two based on VOI searches, Tuesday, October 10:
Dimensions These two models have almost similar dimensions. The Honda City has a length of 4,349 mm, a width of 1,748 mm, a height of 1,488 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. While the Toyota Vios has a compact dimension of 4,410 mm long, a width of 1,740 mm, a height of 1,480 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,620 mm.
The Safety Features These two manufacturers are trying to provide a sense of security to users by embedding various safety features on their models. However, Toyota Vios excels in this regard by providing a variety of TSS (Toyota Safety Sense) features that include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Pre-Collition Warning & Pre-Collison Braking, Front Departure Alert (FDA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Pedal Misoperation Control, Automatic High Beam (AHB), 6 airbags, Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Brave Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Track Control, Vehicle Stability Control, and Hill Start Assist. Honda City, despite its Honda Sensing technology, has more limited functionality.
Even though both machines have machines of the same capacity, Honda City has an advantage in terms of performance. This sedan is equipped with a 1.5 liter DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces a power of 121 ps and a torque of 145 Nm. Toyota Vios, on the other hand, comes with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC Dual VVT-i engine that produces a power of 106 ps and a torque of 138 Nm.
The price of Toyota presents All New Vios in two variants, namely G and G TSS, with prices ranging from IDR 363.2 million to IDR 376.4 million. Meanwhile, New Honda City is only available in one variant at a slightly higher price, which is IDR 399.9 million.
The conclusion of the abundant safety feature gives the All New Vios the advantage. At lower prices, customers can enjoy this system to protect themselves from risk. Despite losing in terms of safety features, New Honda City offers higher engine performance than its competitors. The choice between the two will depend on the needs and preferences of consumers.
