In Front Of Jokowi, Anies Claims That DKI Has Managed To Get Out Of The Top 10 Most Congested Cities In The World

JAKARTA - DKI Governor Anies Baswedan revealed that currently, Jakarta has managed to get out of the list of the top 10 most congested cities in the world. This predicate is issued by the TomTom Traffic Index.

Anies conveyed this statement in front of President Jokowi, Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Bambang Soesatyo, Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani, Chairman of the DPD RI La Nyalla Mattaliti, ranks of ministers, Chair of the Press Council, Chair of the Indonesian Journalists Association at the National Press Day.

"Let us take this opportunity to report that Jakarta in 2020 will be out of the list of the top 10 most congested cities in the world," Anies said in his speech at the National Press Day at the State Palace, Tuesday, February 9.

Anies said, now is an opportunity for media crews to feel the atmosphere of the capital city, which is gradually improving development.

"Usually we want to be on the top 10 list, if it is about traffic congestion we want to get out of the top 10. In 2017 Jakarta is number 4 in the world, 2018 is number 7, 2019 is number 10, and thank God in 2020 we will be ranked 31," he explained.

On that occasion, Anies also appreciated the role of the press in spreading the news during the COVID-19 pandemic. Anies admitted that he welcomed the work of the press and felt the benefits of the news to keep preventing the transmission of COVID-19.

"Even though we are currently experiencing a pandemic, including in Jakarta, members of the press continue to be on duty, continue to take roles even though they have to leave interactions with their families, to ensure that all of us in society get actual and reliable news," he said.
