GIS And Semen Padang Achieve Subroto Award 2023 For Innovation In Reclamation And Sustainable Community Empowerment Lands
JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) and its subsidiary, PT Semen Padang, won the 2023 Subroto Award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for innovation in environmental management and community empowerment in a sustainable manner.
The Tuban Factory GIS won the Innovation Award for the Provision, Development and Management of Plantation/Persemaian Facilities (Nursery) at Mineral and Coal Mining Business Activities, the category of the Mining Business License Holder Group (IUP) for Mining Companies. Non-Mealth Mineral, Not Certain Type Metals and/or Rocks.
Meanwhile, a subsidiary of GIS, PT Semen Padang, won an award for the Industrial Mineral Development and Community Empowerment (PPM), non-metallic category, a subcategory for the Management of a Sustainable Community Environment Around Mines.
The Subroto Award is the highest award given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to stakeholders who have performed their best in advancing the energy and mineral resources sector in Indonesia in the past year. The 2023 Subroto Award was handed over by Plt. Director General of Mineral and Coal, Bambang Suswantono to the Director of Operations of SIG, Reni Wulandari at Kempinski Grand Ballroom, Jakarta, on Friday 29 September.
SIG Operations Director, Reni Wulandari said, the spirit of Go Beyond Next encourages GIS to continue to innovate in creating sustainable solutions that have added value to the environment and society.
"The 2023 Subroto Award is proof of our consistency in innovating to create protection for the environment in mining operations, as well as the development and empowerment of the community around the Company's operating area," said Reni Wulandari.
The Award for Innovation in the Provision, Development and Management of Plantation/Persemian Facilities (Nursery) was successfully achieved by SIG thanks to the program to accelerate the growth of staple plant seeds (yellows, teak, and cascades) in the reclamation area of the Tuban Factory's SIG mining, East Java, by utilizing the breeding bacteria or Plant Growth Promoting Rhinobacteria (PGRR) Indigent. This innovation is considered to meet a number of criteria, including renewal (novelty), level of success in problem solving (efectiveness), benefit (usefulness), ease of replication (replicability), and sustainability (sustainability).
The nursery process with the Indigen PGRR application has several advantages that other growth regulatory substances do not have, including anti-ogenous properties, fertilizing, and abundant in nature. This nursery innovation is able to provide the needs of as many as 60,000 seedlings/years used for post-mining reclamation needs as well as the community around the mine.

Meanwhile, the award won by PT Semen Padang is related to the bilih fish conservation program which has been run since 2018 because of its population which is threatened with extinction due to massive exploitation by fishermen in Lake Singkarak. Conservation is carried out in the Biodiversity Park area of PT Semen Padang by building a fish pond equipped with a colony and a colonial laboratory.
As a result, more than 7,000 Basin fish have been distributed to Lake Singkarak to maintain bilih fish as a source of search for the people of Salingka Lake Singkarak and also to ensure the availability of sustainable bilih fish.
"SIG is committed to optimizing its role as a state-owned company by providing maximum benefits to all stakeholders. This commitment is realized through the spirit to continue to innovate in order to improve economic, social and environmental performance," said Reni Wulandari.
