Overstay Because Of Holiday Fun, US Citizens Deported From Bali
BADUNG A man from the United States (US) with the initials DRS (46) was deported from the island of Bali due to overstay.
The foreigner overstayed because he was busy on vacation around Indonesia so he forgot that his residence permit had expired in Indonesia. The foreigner was deported for violating Article 78 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 6 Year 2011 concerning Immigration.
"The person concerned is subject to immigration administrative action in the form of deportation and deterrence," said Head of Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) Denpasar, Bali, Babay Baenullah, Tuesday, October 3.
The foreigner is known to be the holder of Visa on Arrival (VoA). He spends time in Indonesia with most of them living in Bali. In addition, this US foreigner vacations in Lombok, Sulawesi, Java and Sumatra.
Babay explained, this US foreigner then realized that his residence permit had expired. However, this foreigner argued that his passport had been detained by a travel agency that helped extend his residence permit.
On September 8, 2023, this US foreigner was arrested by officers from the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office. He has exceeded the residence permit that has been granted or overstayed for more than 60 days so that it has violated Article 78 Paragraph 3.
"Although he argues that this is due to negligence, immigration can still carry out immigration immigration measures," he said.

Furthermore, the foreigner was deported through Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Monday (2/10) with the final destination of Boston, Logan International Airport escorted by Denpasar Rudenim officers.
"The person concerned who has been deported will be put on the deterrence list to the Directorate General of Immigration," he said.
