SIG Achieves Four 2023 Good Mining Practice Awards From The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources for Implementing Good Mining Engineering
JAKARTA - The success of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) in implementing good mining engineering principles (Good Mining Practice) received appreciation from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) by winning four awards at the 2023 Good Mining Practice Award event which was held by the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, on Friday, September 29.
Two awards were given to SIG for the Tuban and Rembang factories, while two awards were given to PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) Tuban and Narogong factories.
The two awards received by SIG were the Main Award in the category of Safety Management Aspects of Mineral and Coal Mining, Group of PMDN IUP Holders for Non-Metal Minerals, Certain Types of Non-Metal Minerals and Rocks for the Tuban Factory, East Java and the Rembang Factory, Central Java.
Meanwhile, the two awards received by SBI include the Pratama Award in the category of Safety Management Aspects of Mineral and Coal Mining, the Group of PMDN IUP Holders for Non-Metal Minerals, Certain Types of Non-Metal Minerals and Rocks for the SBI Factory in Tuban, East Java, and the Pratama Award in the category of Technical Management of Mineral Mining and Coal, Groups of Business Permit Holders for Non-Metal Mineral Commodities, Certain Types of Non-Metal Minerals and Rocks for SBI Narogong Factory.
SIG Operations Director, Reni Wulandari said, SIG always implements Occupational Safety and Health (K3) aspects in all business lines to create a safe and comfortable work environment. Especially in mining operations, SIG applies high safety standards to achieve Zero Accidents, Zero Occupational Diseases (PAK), and Zero Occupational Diseases (KAPTK).
"SIG believes that a safe and comfortable work environment will make employees more productive at work so that they can contribute positively to the Company's performance achievements. The 2023 Good Mining Practice Award makes SIG even more motivated to continue to apply good mining engineering principles as a form of implementing ESG principles ( Environmental, Social and Governance) which is in line with SIG's sustainability commitment to the Pillar of Creating Value for Employees and Communities," said Reni Wulandari, in her statement, Tuesday, October 3.
Furthermore, Reni Wulandari explained, GIS focuses on three aspects as a form of implementing mining safety, including safety aspects, health aspects and environmental aspects.
In the safety aspect, SIG implemented the Mining Safety Management System (SMKP), as well as created an innovative driving monitoring system (DMS) by installing fatigue sensors and in-cabin cameras throughout the mining fleet. DMS is a mining operator monitoring system to prevent accidents due to fatigue and unsafe actions when operating the unit while working.
Meanwhile, in the health aspect, SIG prevents Workforce Diseases (PTK), carries out health risk assessments and work environment management to map high health risk work areas to prevent PAK and KAPTK. As for the environmental aspect, SIG plants trees in green belt areas and reclaims post-mining land to filter the impact of dust, smoke emissions and noise due to mining activities.
Thanks to this initiative, throughout 2022 - 2023 SIG succeeded in recording zero accidents, zero frequency accident rate, zero severity accident rate and leading indicator safety performance with results of 100 percent, as well as recording Zero PAK and Zero KAPTK in mining operations at the Tuban Factory, East Java and Rembang Factory, Central Java.
Meanwhile, the initiative carried out by SBI Tuban Factory to achieve the 2023 Good Mining Practice award is to manage mining safety by paying attention to compliance aspects, workforce competency, and mining safety standards mandated by the government.

Meanwhile, SBI Narogong Factory has carried out several initiatives on aspects that can improve safety, production activities and efficient mining techniques, such as preparing mining guidelines for mining activities, implementing raw material handbooks from exploration to quality control, as well as providing training related to mining techniques and innovation. who can assist mining activities in accordance with applicable regulations.
"SIG continues to strive to run sustainable mining operations by consistently applying good mining engineering principles by prioritizing worker safety and health, as well as environmental sustainability, to create added value for all stakeholders," said Reni Wulandari.
The 2023 Good Mining Practice Award is a form of the Government's appreciation for Mining Business Entities and Mining Services Companies that excel in implementing good mining engineering principles. Apart from that, it is also one of the benchmarks for the performance results of the guidance and supervision carried out by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for Mining Business Entities and Mining Services Companies in 2022.
