Amman Mineral Targets Smelter Construction to be Completed in Mid-2024
JAKARTA - PT Amman Mineral Internasional targets to complete the smelter construction in May 2024. Amman Mineral International President Director Alexander Ramlie explained that the smelter construction is expected to continue according to schedule, with a completion target of more than 70 percent in December 2023.
"After the mechanical completion of the smelter in May 2024, if there is no force majeure, we will focus on commissioning the smelter and start production of the first copper cathode around 4 to 5 months later," he said in a statement to the media, Monday, October 2.
He added that Amman is currently building copper and PMR smelter facilities with a total input capacity of 900,000 metric tons per year (tpa) of concentrate from the Batu Hijau mine and Elang mine in the future.
"Smelter production is copper cathode which will reach 222 kilo tons per year and sulfuric acid reaching 830 kilo tons per year (Ktpa)," continued Alexander.
Meanwhile, PMR will receive anode slime input from the refining process at the copper smelter facility, amounting to 970 tpa.
Products from PMR each year include 18 tpa of gold bullion, 55 tpa of silver bullion and 70 tpa of selenium.
