Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya Issues Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Train Operation Permit
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has issued a general railway operation permit for the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Train (KCJB).
The operation permit was issued through the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KM 114 of 2023 concerning the General Railway Facilities Operation Permit of PT Kereta Api Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC).
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said that with the issuance of the operating permit, KCJB had met the aspect of the feasibility of high-speed train operations.
"Alhamdulillah, all testing and certification components have been implemented so that this operating permit can be issued and KCJB commercial operations can be carried out immediately," said the Minister of Transportation in a statement received in Jakarta, Sunday, October 1.
The Minister of Transportation explained that the operation of the KCJB will be carried out in stages to continue to evaluate up to the ultimat scenario up to 68 trips per day.
In addition, to make it easier for passengers to reach the city of Bandung, a feeder train from Padalarang Station has also been prepared to go to Bandung Station.
"This gradual operation is carried out to provide space for operators to adjust and maximize services," he said.
Furthermore, said the Minister of Transportation, promo tariffs will be applied at the beginning of the KCJB operation to attract public interest.
He also hopes that after the issuance of the operating permit, the KCIC as the operator can prepare commercial operations which will soon be inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Hopefully the KCJB can be used by the general public and have a positive impact on the nation's economic growth," said the Minister of Transportation.
Previously, the Minister of Transportation had also said that KJCB now has a brand or brand identity, namelyASH after going through a competition conducted by the assessment team.
The funchastic philosophy comes from the singing of the ordinary high-speed train, both by the Indonesian people and internationally. The name is also considered in accordance with the depiction of the high-speed train which is currently the fastest in Southeast Asia.
In addition,PORTsh also stands for "Time of Saving, Optimal Operation, Handal System" which is the identity of the high-speed train.
KCJB is the first fast train service in Indonesia and Southeast Asia to operate at speeds of up to 350 km/hour.
KCJB has a 142.3 km long route with 13 tunnels and will serve four stations, namely Halim, Karawang, Padalarang, and Tegalluar.
To improve connectivity, KCJB will also be connected to the Jabodebek LRT, feeder train, Bandung Raya Commuter Line, rapid transit bus, shuttle, and taxi.
