The Competition Between Toyota GR Corolla And Honda Civic Type R, Which Colors The Indonesian Automotive Market
JAKARTA - The appearance of Toyota GR Corolla at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) last August has added to the attractive choice in the list of high-performance hot hatch cars in the Indonesian automotive market.
The response received from Indonesian automotive lovers to this model is quite positive, and the Japanese manufacturer plans to produce GR Corolla in a sustainable manner, although in a limited number. However, in the same segment, there are competitors who are no less attractive.
Honda had previously included the Civic Type R in the Indonesian market in March. This car also received good reception, so the demand for this model is quite high, even making manufacturers close bookings in Indonesia.
These two models compete in the high-performance hot hatch market in Indonesia. What are the two comparisons? The following is the review according to a VOI search, Wednesday, September 27.
Dimension
In terms of vehicle dimensions, Honda Civic Type R is larger with a length of 4,593 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, a height of 1,407 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,734 mm.
Meanwhile, Toyota GR Corolla has a more compact size with a length of 4,410 mm, a width of 1,850 mm, a height of 1,450 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,640 mm.
Exterior Design
In terms of design, Honda Civic Type R has a clearly different appearance from its standard variant. This can be seen from the sporty display with various body kits that increase the aerodynamics of the front and water scoop on the hood of the car engine.
Honda also complements this model with LED lights that narrow a little on both sides of the front of the vehicle with a long grip and a manufacturer logo emblem in the middle. The design flows from the back side, giving an elegant impression. The car also has an aggressive rear wing with three exhausts that produce jarring sound.
Toyota GR Corolla, based on the Corolla E210, comes as a five-door car with a sporty design. This can be seen from the aggressive outward view thanks to the body kit that adorns the entire vehicle body.
The Corolla GR is equipped with a carbon fibered roof panel formed with a compounding method, which allows freedom in design. The back looks aggressive with three exhausts, a larger bumper, and a back wing hanging over the window.
Machine Performance
Both have different performance characteristics, with a stronger Honda Civic Type R. This hot hatch is equipped with a 2.0 liter VTEC Turbo engine which produces 314 hp and 420 Nm torque.
On the other hand, the Glolla GR is powered by a 3-cylinder gasoline engine of 1.6 liters with the same G16E-GTS turbocharger as the one used by GR Yaris. This machine produces up to 300 hp of power and 360 Nm of torque.
