942 Hotspots Detected In Sumatra, Most In South Sumatra 569 Hotspots

SUMATRA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Pekanbaru Station reported the latest monitoring results in the Sumatra region that there were 942 hotspots as of Saturday, September 23.

"A total of 942 hotspots or hotspots were observed in Sumatra. The most in South Sumatra were 569 points and Lampung 299 points," said Pekanbaru BMKG Forecaster Moh Ibnu A in his statement in Pekanbaru, Riau, Saturday, September 24, quoted by Antara.

He mentioned that a number of hotspots in Sumatra were recorded as follows, Bengkulu 22 hotspots, Jambi 6 hotspots, Lampung 299 hotspots.

Furthermore, in West Sumatra there are 7 hotspots, South Sumatra 569 hotspots, Bangka Belitung 38 hotspots and Riau 1 hotspot, namely in Indragiri Hulu Regency.

In addition, the Pekanbaru Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) Station also released a weather forecast in Riau on Saturday, September 23, rain with light to heavy intensity which could be accompanied by lightning and wind, rain flushed Riau at night until early morning.

"Rains are uneven only occur in some areas of Riau. On the night of the potential for rain with light to moderate intensity in a number of Riau areas, namely in parts of Rokan Hulu, Kampar, Kuantan Singingi, Indragiri Hulu, Bengkalis, Siak, Pelalawan, Meranti Islands, Dumai City and Pekanbaru City," he said.

In the early morning the potential for rain with light to moderate intensity occurred in parts of Rokan Hilir, Kuantan Singingi, Bengkalis, Siak, Meranti Islands and Dumai City.

"The public needs to be aware of the potential for moderate to heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds. This potential can occur in parts of Bengkalis, Rokan Hulu, Rokan Hilir, Kampar, Siak, Kuantan Singingi and also Meranti Islands at night and early morning," he said.

Riau air temperature today is at 21.0'34.0's with humidity of 50'99 percent while the wind direction blows to the southeast's southwest at a speed of 10'30 km/hour.
