Grief News, Paramadina University Chancellor Passes Away

JAKARTA - The sad news comes from the world of education. Rector of Paramadina University Jakarta, Prof. Firmanzah, Ph.D, died of vertigo he suffered.

From the information circulating, Firmanzah passed away at BMC Sentul Hospital, West Java on Saturday, February 6. This news was then conveyed by Democrat Party politician Andi Arief through his Twitter account.

"Innalillahi wainna ilaihi rojiuun. Prof. Firmanzah passed away. PhD due to vertigo earlier at dawn. Hopefully Husnul khotimah," he wrote via the @Andiarief__ account as quoted by VOI on Saturday, February 6.

In addition, this sad news was also conveyed by a political observer from Paramadina University Hendri Satrio. He mourned Firmanzah's departure.

"Yes, it's true (passed away, red). Very sad, he's a good person," he said when contacted via short message.

Firmanzah, 44, was elected rector of Paramadina University in 2014 to replace Anies Baswedan who was then Minister of Education and Culture. This man from Surabaya has also been President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's special staff in the Economy sector.

In his academic activities, he is also active in seminars at home and abroad. Apart from that, Firmanzah is also active in writing both books and journals. He has even published more than 20 journals as well as several books.

In addition, at the age of 32, he succeeded in becoming dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia. Firmanzah became dean of the faculty for the 2009-2013 period after defeating his seniors, namely Sidarta Utama and Arindra A Zainal.
