KUPANG - The elected Regent of Sabu Raijua, NTT, Orient Patriot Riwu Kore, asserted that he was 100 percent Indonesian citizens (WNI).

"I am an Indonesian citizen," he said after meeting with the Head of the East Nusa Tenggara Police Inspector General Lotharia Latif at the NTT Regional Police Headquarters, Kupang, quoted by Antara, Friday, February 5.

Orient explained the reason he took part in the Pilkada of Sabu Raijua Regency because of the mandate from his parents.

Regarding the case of his citizenship, he said, someone has taken care of it, even now it is in process.

"Apologize in advance regarding citizenship, someone has taken care of it. I am not a citizen of another country or not a dual national," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Head of the NTT Regional Police, Inspector General Lotharia Latif, said the meeting was not only with the Orient Patriot Riwu Korea, but also involved the NTT Provincial KPU and the Sabu Raijua Regency KPU.

"We did not talk further about citizenship. We only discussed security and order in Sabu Raijua," he said.

Previously, the Bawaslu of Sabu Raijua Regency received confirmation from the US Embassy that Orient Riwu Kore still had the status of a citizen of the United States (US).

"The US Embassy in Jakarta has confirmed and confirmed that the person concerned is still a US citizen," said Head of Bawaslu Sabu Raijua Regency Yugi Tagi Huma.

Yugi said his party had sent a letter to Immigration in Kupang and the center to find out about the suspicion that the elected Sabu Raijua Regent Candidate was still US citizens.
