Tesla Recall 135 Thousand Model S And X Cars Due To Touch Screen Damage

JAKARTA - Tesla released a revamped version of the Model S and X at the end of January. Elon Musk's company introduced a new version of the Model S and X with a fresh interior and exterior as well as improvements in processing components.

In addition, the new X and S 2021 models will also be equipped with a touch screen. According to the latest news compiled by VOI, the touch screen on the Tesla Model S Car will be able to run PC games such as Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher, and many other titles.

Unfortunately, it seems that this feature will not be able to be felt for some time to come. The reason is, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) sent an official letter to Tesla. The letter requested that the company recall the 134,951 cars that had already been sold due to a potential touch screen failure.

It is known that the Tesla Model X and S use the center screen to control car functions. Such as the defrosting or defogger function and to display the catch from the rear camera.

NHTSA also asked the company to check the screen for damage, in which the screen will go blank when the computer memory is full. NHTSA also added a complaint document from users that have been posted since June.

Not only that, but many drivers also reported damage to the screen. Like the screen off, failure to display weather features, camera, and other controls. He said that the cars used in the report were still used by users, but with limited usage.

This is not the first notice NHTSA has posted. In January, the agency also asked Tesla to recall cars that were suspected of being damaged - including the Model S from 2012 to 2018 and the Model X SUV from 2016 to 2018.

Meanwhile, Reuters reported that initially the NHTSA only asked for a total of 158 thousand cars to be recalled. However, Tesla stated that it will include several types of cars that have been upgraded with the latest processors.
