Reasons For The Eco City Rempang Project To Be Accelerated: Here's The Minister Of Investment's Answer

YOGYAKARTA - Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that the government will accelerate the process of developing Rempang Eco City in the midst of community conflicts with the authorities.

Bahlil promised that the state would use more humane ways in experiencing the residents of Pulau Rempang who had been relocated as a result of this national strategic project (PSN).

"We will work out gentle methods," he said in Batam, Riau Islands, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.

He said the total investment that had entered, especially from the Xinyi Group, held more than Rp300 trillion. Bahlil said that in the initial session of the construction of the glass factory and the most solar panels after China will enter Rp175 trillion.

For him, the disbursement of foreign money will have a positive impact on the achievement of state income. Bahlil also claimed that there was an impact that would be experienced by local residents in the form of abundant employment opportunities.

"If this is released, it means that the potential achievement of PAD (regional revenue) and job creation for our brothers here will be lost," Bahlil was worried.

On the other hand, he mentioned Indonesia's competition with Singapore in attracting investors. For Bahlil, both are fighting for the throne as the largest foreign direct investment (FDI) destination country in ASEAN.

Therefore, Bahlil emphasized that the struggle for foreign investment projects needed speed and accuracy, listed in Rempang Eco City. However, he said that this investment should not cause losses to one party.

"We are competing, the most FDI destination countries in ASEAN are currently being won by Singapore in the first position. Meanwhile, Indonesia with a larger area of area, is actually located in second place. We want to seize investment to generate jobs," Bahlil explained.

"If we take too long, how come they (investors) want to wait for us? We need them, but on the other hand, we must also respect those inside," he concluded.
