After The Operation, Tennis Player Emma Raducanu Finds A New Hobby
JAKARTA - Emma Raducanu shared a new hobby that she underwent after surgery. The English tennis player is now pursuing Mahjong's playing hobby. Raducanu previously decided to hang on to a temporary racket since last April for undergoing hand and ankle surgery.
The 20-year-old has last played in the first round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. At that time Raducanu was eliminated by Jelena Ostapenko.
Prior to the break due to operations in May, the former 2021 US women's singles champion was in 194 WTA rankings.
After the operation, Raducanu was temporarily vaccinated for recovery. But he was seen returning to training last August.
While trying to make a comeback, Raducanu took the time to vacation and visit his mother, China. During his visit to Shenyang, he talked about his love for Mahjong to his grandmother.
"I recently studied Mahjong and felt the most comfortable and who I really was when I was at the kitchen table at my grandmother's or aunt's house in Shenyang to play with my family," Raducanu was quoted as saying by The Sun on Friday, September 15.
"Mahjong, who comes from China, is usually played with four people, with tiles that must be arranged in a certain order to create victory," continued Raducanu, explaining in detail how Mahjong played.

Asked about his other hobbies, he said, "Including Mahjong, piano, reading, learning new cultures and languages, motorsports, driving and diving."
"On holidays, I love practicing piano... I'm just starting to study and the journey is still long, but I really like the melody after you get it."
"Also have taken Mahjong and now enjoy playing with anyone I can find. And I love driving," he said.
