Close To Bekasi, The Reason For Air Quality In East Jakarta Is The Worst In Jakarta
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has a number of air quality monitoring tools. One of them is placed in Lubang Buaya, Cipayung, East Jakarta (Jaktim). Apparently, this measuring tool always shows poor air quality results throughout Jakarta.
This was admitted by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto. Asep said this was due to his location close to the Bekasi area, West Java.
"After it was detected why the equipment in Lubang Buaya was always not good, it turned out that it was due to business activities that caused pollution around the city of Bekasi," Asep told reporters, Friday, September 15.
Based on the search by the DKI Provincial Government, it turns out that the location of the air quality monitoring at Lubang Buaya is adjacent to the tofu factory, a charcoal manufacturing plant, to a cable combustion business in Bekasi.
According to him, the air quality monitoring tool that the DKI Provincial Government has is very sensitive to the conditions around it. Thus, pollution that is not actually sourced from Jakarta is also read on the tool.
"We can't take action (on the air polluting business in Bekasi)," said Asep.
Asep continued, this condition also occurs in pollution monitoring tools belonging to the air quality data collection agency, namely IQ Air. The IQ Air tool stationed in Jakarta, according to Asep, is not placed in a neutral location to monitor air quality.
"The IQ Air tool is not placed with a study, not with a tool placement criterion. Well, this eventually creates information that we can state is inaccurate," he explained.
Thus, Asep asked the air quality monitoring agency and the public to install their measuring tools at the locations recommended by the Environment Agency.
"It's a good step to put it in a neutral place and indeed it should be consulted with the Department of Environment. So, we don't buy tools carelessly and place the equipment. Indeed, that has not been well socialized," he added.
