PDIP Still Considers Ridwan Kamil To Be Ganjar's Vice President Candidate Even Though He Is Not Supported By Golkar

JAKARTA - The PDI-P is still considering the former governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) accompanying Ganjar Pranowo. Although the Golkar Party did not propose the name of Ridwan Kamil to be the vice presidential candidate in 2024. This was conveyed by PDIP DPP Chairman Said Abdullah in response to the Deputy Golkar Ahmad Doli Kurnia who stated that his party had a plan to carry Ridwan Kamil in the West Java gubernatorial election or the DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election. "That is entirely the authority of the Golkar Party. (However, I emphasize that Ridwan Kamil's name was included in our consideration because of his track record factors, achievements, leadership and electability," Said told reporters, Wednesday, September 13. According to Said, support for the vice presidential election is indeed the authority of the Golkar Party. However, it is also Ridwan Kamil's right to determine his political steps.

As is known, Golkar has expressed support for Gerindra Chairman Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in 2024. Golkar also encourages its chairman, Airlangga Hartarto to become vice president.

"Whether Ridwan Kamil is elected to accompany Ganjar Pranowo whether he will be supported by the Golkar Party or not, of course that is the full authority of the Golkar Party. However, it is Pak Ridwan Kamil's right to determine his political steps," Said said. However, Said said, the chairman of Ganjar's supporting political parties is still formulating the best scheme for the 2024 presidential election later. "There is still a period of one month until the closing of the registration of pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates," said Said.

Previously, the Golkar Party emphasized that it would not propose former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil to become a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar Pranowo. Golkar actually gave its cadres the option to run for the West Java Pilkada or the DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

"Regarding Ridwan Kamil, we also have a planning. At that time we had decided to encourage RK to become a candidate for governor, later we just have to choose him, between West Java again or DKI Jakarta," said Golkar Party DPP chairman Ahmad Doli Kurnia at the DPR Building, Monday, September 11.

Doli emphasized that until now there have been no changes related to the 2024 presidential election, namely still encouraging the General Chairperson of Golkar Airlangga Hartarto as a presidential or vice presidential candidate according to the National Conference's decision. Meanwhile, Ridwan Kamil is still in the Pilkada planning.

"Even if there is another decision, even then the authority of Pak Airlangga, which we have given the full mandate to our general chairman, is to determine the final position of determining the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs," he said.

Regarding the meeting between Ridwan Kamil and PDI-P General Chair Megawati, the chairman of Commission II of the DPR believes that it is just an ordinary meeting.

"Yes, silaturahim, it's normal, yes, after all, I also met Mr. Zulkifli Hasan several times. So if we have communication with other political parties, there are no problems, and Mr. RK also reported it to Mr. Airlangga at that time," said Doli.
