Students In NTT Died After Being Hit By A Coconut Tree That Collapsed On The Road

Elu Janu Liu (17), a resident of RT 04 RW 02 Oenoni II Village, Amarasi District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, died after being hit by a coconut tree that fell due to strong winds that hit NTT. "At the time of the incident, the wind was strong enough and without realizing the fallen coconut tree and hit the victim who was walking, immediately the victim died," he added. According to Kapolres Anak Agung Gde Anom Wirata, the incident began when the victim Elu Januar Liu (17) was walking through the highway after returning home from school, suddenly a coconut tree fell due to strong winds and hit the victim so that the victim immediately died at the scene. "After an examination was carried out by the Amarasi Police personnel, the victim had already died and by the family the death of the victim was purely a disaster," said the Kupang Police Chief. The former West Sumba Police Chief hopes that the people of Kupang Regency will always be vigilant when crossing the road where there are many trees during strong winds.

According to him, in conditions of strong winds such as what is happening at this time is very prone to falling trees and fires, so it must be anticipated by the community. "If there are trees that want to fall around the house, they should immediately cut down so that they do not hit houses or residents who are active," said Chief of Police Agung Gde Anom Wirata.
