ACEH - The Bireuen District Attorney, Aceh Province, has stopped prosecuting two cases through restorative justice or settlement of cases outside the court after the perpetrators and victims agreed to make peace.Head of the Bireuen Prosecutor's Office, Munawal Hadi, said that the termination of the prosecution of the two cases was after obtaining approval from the Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes at the Attorney General's Office, Fadil Zumhana."There are two cases whose prosecutions were terminated after Jampidum agreed. The two cases are detention and persecution," he said in Banda Aceh, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, August 5.Munawal said the detention case with the suspect with the initials A was suspected of violating Article 480 1 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of four years in prison.Meanwhile, the case of persecution with the suspect with the initials F was suspected of violating Article 351 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code with a penalty of two years and eight months in prison.The termination of the prosecution of the two cases is through restorative justice because the first new suspects commit criminal acts and the threat of punishment is no more than five years"In addition, the suspects admitted their mistakes and have apologized to the victim and promised not to repeat their actions. The victim also forgives the suspect and will not sue again," said Munawal.
Furthermore, said Munawal, his party immediately issued a letter determining the termination of prosecution based on restorative justice in accordance with the Indonesian Attorney General's Regulation as a manifestation of legal certainty."With the termination of the prosecution of the two cases, the Bireuen Kejari has carried out the termination of prosecution through restorative justice as many as 23 cases," said Munawal Hadi.
