President Jokowi-PM Cambodia Discuss Food Security And Protection For Indonesian Citizens
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Merdeka Palace to discuss increasing agricultural cooperation and protecting Indonesian citizens (WNI).
"This is a strategic collaboration not only regarding import exports but also talking about food security issues," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in a statement delivered by the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 4.
During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding for agriculture was signed between the ministers of agriculture and the two countries.
"During the discussion, the two leaders also talked about efforts to encourage cooperation between Indonesian SOEs and Cambodian SOEs," said Retno.
President Jokowi and PM Hun Manet discussed the importance of strengthening cooperation to protect Indonesian citizens (WNI), especially those who are victims of online technology-based fraud or online scams.

In this case, President Jokowi revealed that there were 777 cases of online scams handled in Cambodia during January-July 2023
"Therefore, the President emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among law enforcers," said Foreign Minister Retno.
Hun Manet's visit to Jakarta in order to attend the 43rd Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was his first visit since serving as Cambodian PM on August 22, 2023.
