FIBA World Cup 2023 Results: Canada Wins Over Latvia, Ensures Group H Title
JAKARTA - The Canadian men's basketball team successfully won over Latvia in the final match of the 2023 FIBA World Cup group phase. Jordi Fernandez's team won over Latvia with a final score of 101-75, Tuesday, August 29.
The win over Latvia was won by Canada on the third matchday of Group H FIBA World Cup 2023, perfecting Canadian performances during the preliminary round.
Overall Canada managed to pack the six points collected from victories against France, Lebanon, and Latvia. The score also made them automatically ensure themselves as winners of Group H.
Canada won with a fierce effort. At the beginning of the first quarter they even fell behind 7-11 from Latvia. Even so, the Canadian squad was able to catch up to points changing 11-11 and continued to outperform the opponent until the end of the first quarter they belonged to with a score of 23-13.
In the second quarter, Latvia continued to make it difficult for Brooks et al to move over quite a distance as points entered 32-20. With a difference of 12 points, Canada tried to appear pressing until it was able to turn things around again at the end of the second quarter with a thin score of 42-43.
After going through half-time, a comfortable pattern of play began to be found by the Canadian squad until they took advantage again with a score of 57-67.
This good trend was used optimally by the Canadian squad to ignite enthusiasm. Their efforts resulted in positive results because their dominance was seen with a 20-point advantage when the numbers showed 81-61 and continued to grow at the end of the fourth quarter with a score of 101-75 for Canada.
