JEMBER - The Jember Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Office guarantees student education from one of the Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) in Jember Regency, East Java, which is a victim of sexual violence."We are ready to backup private MTs students who are victims of sexual violence, both in the legal process and in education," said Head of the Jember Ministry of Religion A. Sruji Bahtiar in a written statement received in Jember, Antara, Sunday, August 27.A MTs student became a victim of sexual violence until she became pregnant. The incident was reported by the victim's family to the police, so the Jember Police arrested the perpetrator and is still in legal proceedings."I admit that I am slow to know about the problem because there is no report and any information from the school. If there is such a problem, the school or foundation should immediately report it and the Ministry of Religion will definitely take defense steps," he said.He asked the Head of the Madrasah Education Section to continue to monitor the progress of the legal process for victims and the certainty of obtaining their rights as students in madrasas, as well as ensuring the continuity of victims' education to universities.Head of the Madrasah Education Section of the Jember Ministry of Religion Faisol said the case had been handled by the Jember Police and was under the supervision of the Jember Office's Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA)."The victim wants to continue his schooling, so we will give full support to the MTs student. The learning process for the victim continues to be carried out online, and the teacher will visit the victim's house alternately according to the material he teaches," he said.He promised to continue to monitor the case thoroughly in accordance with the orders of the Head of the Jember Ministry of Religion, so that it is hoped that the victim will still be able to continue his education.Previously, the Jember Police arrested SUP (28), a resident of Ledokombo Subdistrict who sexually abused a minor until the victim became pregnant after the victim's father reported the incident.
The suspect SUP was charged with Article 81 in conjunction with Article 76D of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning the stipulation of government regulations in lieu of Law Number 1 of 2016 concerning the second amendment to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, with a penalty of 15 years in prison.
