DPRD Proposes Odd Even 24 Hours Non Stop, Polda Metro: Must Be Reviewed
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta DPRD proposes an odd-even system to be enforced for 24 hours. The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya responded by stating that this matter must be studied first.
"There needs to be studies, discussions," said Wadirlantas Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Doni Hermawan to reporters, Friday, August 25.
According to him, in an effort to find solutions to existing problems, especially regarding traffic, cannot be instantaneous. Because, there will be an impact.
Therefore, not only studies, the trial stage must also be carried out. So that the existing problems can be resolved properly.
"We are testing it, so it doesn't necessarily apply every discourse," said Doni.
Chairman of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ida Maheasy, previously suggested that the implementation of the odd-even system in the capital city be enforced for 24 hours. This is because currently efforts to control air quality are considered not optimal.
"I hope that the local government will immediately evaluate what has been done in a few days. My input if indeed the evaluation is very small, reducing pollution. This odd-even will take effect immediately 24 hours," said Ida.
Ida argues that the implementation of odd-even for 24 hours can be more effective in reducing the number of private motorized vehicles passing through the capital city and reducing pollution more optimally.
Given, the congestion of motorized vehicles in Jakarta, in addition to causing congestion, is also one of the most contributing sources of pollution.
"This odd-even is valid 24 hours so that it can really reduce, because we both hear that the most air pollution is donated by motorized vehicles," said Ida.
Meanwhile, odd-even is applied Monday to Friday with the implementation time starting at 06.00 WIB to 10.00 WIB in the morning. Then, in the afternoon at 16.00 WIB to 21.00 WIB.
