The Myanmar Coup Heats Up, This Is The Indonesian Embassy In Yangon's Appeal For Indonesian Citizens

JAKARTA - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) Yangon has given a number of appeals to Indonesian citizens (WNI) following the heated political situation in Myanmar.

The security appeal issued by the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon on Monday, February 1, yesterday asked Indonesian citizens in Myanmar to remain calm, be alert and take the necessary steps.

"Stay calm and increase your vigilance and always pay close attention to developments in the security situation around the residence and minimize unnecessary activities outside the home," read an excerpt from the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon.

The Indonesian Embassy in Yangon also asked Indonesian citizens to prepare supplies of foodstuffs and other basic necessities, including endurance enhancing drugs and multivitamins.

"For estimated needs for the next one to two weeks."

Furthermore, Indonesian citizens must always carry valid identification or official documents to facilitate self-identification if there is an inspection by security forces.

"Always improve communication between residents and increase attention to the existence of each colleague and or family."

Furthermore, Indonesian citizens are asked to avoid the efforts of certain groups, communities of individuals who want to influence and invite them to carry out activities or participate in making comments that have the potential to disrupt public safety and the environment.

"Finally, we must adhere to health protocols and regulations as well as the direction of the Myanmar government. If there is information or an emergency that is needed to contact the Indonesian Embassy," said the appeal.
