1 DPO Suspect Of Corruption In The Sarolangun Jambi PLTMH Project Arrested In Jakarta

JAMBI - A suspect in a corruption case in the construction of a Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) in Sarolangun, Jambi, was arrested by the police.

Sarolangun Police Chief AKBP Imam Rachman said the suspect with the initials BY, who had been on the wanted list (DPO), was arrested in Jakarta on Thursday, August 10 at around 23.00 WIB.

"The perpetrator has been designated as a DPO for a corruption case since November 14, 2022," he said in Jambi, Friday, August 11, which was confiscated by Antara.

The suspect BY became a DPO because he continued to be absent from the investigators' summons for further investigation of the corruption in the construction of the PLTMH in Sarolangun. BY at that time was also unable to be contacted and after being visited at his home in Surabaya, the suspect was not found.

Imam explained that this corruption case originated from the PLTMH construction project at the Jambi Provincial Energy and Mineral Resources Office in 2015 in two villages, namely Berkun in Limun District and Pemuat Village in Batang Asai District.

The suspect BY is known to be the person responsible for working until the PLTMH is completed in the two villages.

However, in 2021, based on information from the PLTMH community which was built in Pemuat Village collapsed and did not function. The Sarolangun Police then conducted an investigation by examining witnesses including PLTMH development workers in the two villages.

In its development, it was only in 2022 that the Sarolangun Police Criminal Investigation Unit named three suspects. The three suspects have the initials SK, GH and BY, each of whom has a different role in the PLTMH development project at the Jambi Province ESDM Office.

However, the suspect BY fled without fulfilling the investigator's summons. He was then assigned a DPO by the Sarolangun Police.
