Jakarta ASEAN Summit, Jokowi Will Join 12 Meetings
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will chair 12 meetings during the Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN Summit) in Jakarta on September 5-7.
The Director General of ASEAN Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sidharto Suryodipuro, said that in addition to leading the 43rd ASEAN Summit, both in plenary and review formats, Jokowi would also lead all meetings with ASEAN partner countries.
These meetings are the 26th ASEAN-China Summit, the 24th ASEAN-Republic Korea Summit, the 26th ASEAN-Japan Summit, and the 11th ASEAN-United States Summit.
The president will also chair the ASEAN-Canada Summit, the 26th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, the 20th ASEAN-India Summit, the 3rd ASEAN-Australia Summit, the 13th ASEAN-United Nations (UN) Summit, and the 18th East Asian Summit (EAS).
The East Asian Summit consists of 18 participating countries, including 10 ASEAN member countries, and Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, the Russian Federation, and the United States.
"The president will also lead non-trial activities, such as opening the Indo-Pacific ASEAN Forum, dinner, closing ceremonies, and handing over ASEAN chairmanship to Laos," said Sidharto at a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, August 11, which was confiscated by Antara.

Sidharto said there would be 27 leaders of international countries and/or organizations expected to attend the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Jakarta, including 18 leaders of EAS participating countries, leaders of the Pacific Island Forum (PIF), Prime Minister of Canada, and Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
He added that all the final documents related to the ASEAN Summit are still in the discussion stage and an intensive negotiation process.
