Bengkalis Police Fails To Smuggle 4 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From Pekanbaru
Bengkalis Police, Riau, thwarted the smuggling of 4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine sent via travel delivery services from Pekanbaru to Bengkalis, involving five suspects.
"Five suspects arrested by DS alias U, MA, AM, ES, and NA, two of whom are husband and wife (couple) and the wife is a recidivist in 2016," said Bengkalis Police Chief AKBP Setyo Bimo Anggoro reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 1.
According to the Police Chief, this arrest began with information that there was a shipment through travel car services, so his party also confiscated a number of evidences, including four plastic packages containing suspected methamphetamine on July 26, 2023.
The items were secured at a travel counter located at Jalan Pelabuhan Roro, Air Putih Village, Bengkalis District. In addition, they were also confiscated, including a white Miyako brand blender box, a piece of paper that reads ADE/085263219960, and three cell phones.
From the results of the interrogation, the police found chronology related to the circulation of this type of methamphetamine.
After that, the police conducted an investigation to arrest DS and MA at the house which is located at Jalan Jend Sudirman Gang Jawa, Damon Village, Bengkalis District.
Furthermore, it was revealed that the methamphetamine type narcotics belonged to them obtained from AM, which was sent through travel services to Pekanbaru on orders from Koko. AM was also the target of the investigation, and from accurate information, the police arrested AM, ES, and NA in Pekanbaru.

"The suspects admit that they act as recipients of methamphetamine which will be delivered to the next courier on the orders of the Supreme Court," said Setyo.
The Bengkalis Police Chief appreciates the hard work of all law enforcement teams involved in uncovering this case, as well as people who have played an active role in helping eradicate narcotics trafficking in the Bengkalis area.
The investigation process will continue to be carried out to ensure justice for the perpetrators and the affected communities.
"The perpetrators were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) and Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The threat of death penalty, life imprisonment, or imprisonment with a period of between 6 and 20 years, and a maximum fine as stipulated in the provisions," said the Police Chief.
