JAKARTA - A prisoner at the Meulaboh Penitentiary, West Aceh Regency, with the initials NR (40), a resident of Tapaktuan, South Aceh Regency, was caught red-handed while consuming a type of crystal methamphetamine drug in the detention room.
From the hands of the perpetrators, the officers seized evidence in the form of remaining 0.5 grams of methamphetamine-type narcotics and a suction device.
"This case was revealed after officers received information on the alleged use of narcotics in the detention room," said Head of the Meulaboh Prison, Sayid Syahrul, who was contacted in Meulaboh, reported by Antara, Saturday, January 30 evening.
After obtaining this information, his party formed a team, then the team monitored the perpetrator's detention room, then searched the detention room.
The officers found the methamphetamine-type narcotics from the hands of the NR perpetrators, then secured them.
According to Sayid Syahrul, the prohibited items were allegedly obtained from outside the Meulaboh prison and were thrown from outside the compound.
The case, he said, is currently still being investigated by police officers from the West Aceh Police Narcotics Detective Unit.
Sayid Syahrul explained that before living in this prison, NR had served a sentence at the Tapaktuan Penitentiary, South Aceh Regency.
"The perpetrator is a convict in a narcotics case with a 9 year sentence. He has only been in prison for 2 years," Sayid Syahrul added.
For his actions, NR will again undergo the legal process with the same case at the West Aceh Police Headquarters.
"Currently, we are still detaining the NR perpetrator in Meulaboh Prison and waiting for a decision from the investigator regarding this case," said Said Syahrul.
