Hidayat Nur Wahid Criticizes Sri Mulyani Over Waqf Funds: Using Waqf Funds, But Corruption Becomes More Extreme

JAKARTA - The government plans to build infrastructure worth IDR597 billion with waqf funds. This invites oblique comments from many parties.

One of those who criticized the program to be run by the Ministry of Finance was Deputy Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Hidayat Nur Wahid.

As reported by VOI previously, the Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI gave Sri Mulyani a hard slap. According to Hidayat, what Sri Mulyani said about the social purpose of using waqf funds is contradictory.

More than that, this PKS politician also thinks that the government's program is ironic. This is because the government is collecting public funds. This was conveyed by Hidayat Nur Wahid via his Twitter account @hnurwahid Twitter.

"Yes, it is a recurring contradiction. And it is even more ironic, because the funds of the Ummah want to be collected; haj, zakat, waqf, umrah," Hidayat Nur Wahid was quoted as saying on Friday, January 29.

Hidayat's comment was a response to Rizal Ramli's tweet. The Senior Economist, via the Twitter account @RamliRizal, also criticized Sri Mulyani's statement. Rizal revealed that the government has been promoting Islamophobia, but it turns out that Islamic funds have been stolen too.

"Islam-Phobia is intensified, but when it comes to financial difficulties, seduces, and utilizes public funds, waqf and haj funds. It's very contradictory," Rizal tweeted.

Meanwhile, the contradiction that is meant by Hidayat is the state financial condition in the government. The government plans to build infrastructure using waqf funds, but corruption is still common. Corruption is precisely what causes state finances to decline further.

"But the corruption that undermines the finances of the State and the Nation continues to be even more extreme; condensate, souls, asabri, bpjs labor, social assistance, including those with disabilities," said Hidayat.
