China Becomes The World's Largest Car Exporting Country
JAKARTA - China in the first half of 2023 became the country that exports the most cars in the world. Car exports from China peaked due to high demand for electric vehicles and sales after the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the first half of this year, based on data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), vehicle exports from China reached 2.14 million units, an annual increase of 75.7%.
Not only local brands, even outside companies that assemble their cars in China also experienced a significant increase in exports.
Based on a report from Carnewschina, July 18, specifically, the number of passenger car exports reached 1.78 million units, an increase of 88.4 percent compared to the previous year for the same period. Meanwhile, exports of renewable energy vehicles reached 534,000 units, an increase of 160 percent.
In the first half of 2023, seven Chinese automotive companies managed to export more than 100,000 units, namely SAIC, Chery, Tesla China, Changan, Great Wall Motors (GWM), Geely, and Dongfeng.
Chery recorded exports of 394,000 vehicles, an increase of 170 percent, while GWM exported 124,000 vehicles, an increase of 97.3 percent.
Of course, this number shows China's great contribution to the global market, considering that several automotive manufacturers have successfully penetrated the international market.
