Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Asks The Papua-West Papua Special Autonomy Fund To Be Evaluated, What's Wrong?

JAKARTA - Vice President (Wapres) Ma'ruf Amin requested that the distribution of special autonomy funds (autonomy) for Papua and West Papua Provinces be evaluated thoroughly.

Including the effectiveness of the use of these funds for development and improving the welfare of local communities.

This was conveyed by Ma'ruf when chairing a closed meeting on political, legal and security issues related to the acceleration of welfare development in Papua and West Papua Provinces.

"We have to build a new system and design, as well as a more effective way of working in order to be able to produce a leap of prosperity for the people of Papua and West Papua," said Vice President Ma'ruf at the Vice President's Palace.

In addition to evaluating the special autonomy funds, Vice President Ma'ruf also reminded the need for a new design and way of working in implementing the accelerated development program in the two easternmost provinces of Indonesia.

The government will reformulate a new special autonomy policy by involving indigenous Papuans (OAP) in every planning and implementation.

The OAP involvement will be carried out by inviting the people of Papua and West Papua to discuss the special autonomy policy.

"So that we formulate the best policy, which will make Papua and West Papua more advanced and prosperous," he said.

The limited meeting was held by implementing strict health protocols and was attended by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly.

Furthermore, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning / Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Sofyan Djalil and Minister of National Development Planning / Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN / Bappenas) Suharso Monoarfa. Also attending were Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Budi Gunawan, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
