BNN Thwarts International Narcotics Smuggling, Wrapped In Chinese Tea

JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) arrested two groups of drug traffickers during January. These two groups are international networks.

Head of BNN Komjen Petrus Reinhard Golos said the two groups were arrested in Banyuasin, South Sumatra and East Aceh. A total of seven suspects were arrested from the two groups.

"From these two cases, the total evidence confiscated were 211.69 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 16,702 ecstasy pills in capsules and 38 thousand ecstasy pills in tablet form," Petrus told reporters, Thursday, January 28.

Perpetrators in this group smuggled crystal methamphetamine in packets of Chinese tea and distributed it through the waters of Banyuasin, South Sumatra, on January 23.

From this case, 171 packs of Chinese tea contained 177.16 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 16,702 pink capsules containing MDMA or ecstasy, 20 thousand pink tablets and 18 thousand greenish yellow tablets. in the form of a tiger's head containing MDMA, "continued Petrus.

"As a follow-up to this case, the South Sumatra BNNP also carried out development and succeeded in securing two suspects with the initials HO and DA along with 3 kilograms of methamphetamine evidence," added Petrus.

Meanwhile, for the case in Aceh, Petrus said three people were arrested. The first with the initials HMS (35) was arrested at a gas station on Jalan Medan Banda Aceh, East Aceh, last January 18.
