Missing 2 Days During Picnic, Youth In Soppeng Found Dead Drowning In Marioriaja River

The Bone SAR team finally found the body of Dandi (23), a young man who drowned in the current of the Marioriaja River, after being declared missing for two days while having a picnic with his family around the local river, Soppeng Regency, South Sulawesi.

"The victim was found about 200 meters from the scene of the incident this morning in a state of death," said SAR Post Coordinator Bone Febrianto as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 15.

He said the young man reportedly drowned in the Marioriaja River on Thursday (13/7) while the victim was on a picic with his family.

According to him, the victim allegedly went to the middle of the river to take something, but unfortunately at that time the water discharge increased until he was carried away by heavy currents in the local river.

"The victim's body was found on the third day of the search. Then it was handed over to the family and taken to the funeral home for the funeral," he said.

The discovery of the victim's body, he said, was after the joint SAR team conducted a search using diving and sweeping techniques along the river in Marioriaja Village two days ago until it was finally found today.

"The discovery of the victim's body was carried out by the Joint SAR team such as BPBD, Babinsa, Babinkamtibmas, Brimob, SAR Prima, KPS Aspal Bone, and the surrounding community," he said.

He also appealed to the public to increase vigilance, especially during natural conditions that are not possible to carry out any activities and should be postponed in order to avoid unwanted things.
