COVID-19 Positive, Mexican President Experienced Fever
JAKARTA - Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (67) is still undergoing treatment and supervision from the Mexican health authorities. His condition is said to be getting better with minimal COVID-19 symptoms.
"President Lopez Obrador had a brief episode of fever and lightheadedness. But there was almost no other discomfort," Deputy Health Minister Hugo Lopez-Gatell told a regular government press conference.
"He's still very active, not only with minimal symptoms, but he's continuing to carry out his function," continued Lopez-Gatell.
Interior Minister Olga Sanchez said earlier on Wednesday that President Lopez Obrador was in a stable and healthy condition.
Earlier, President Lopez Obrador announced he was positive for COVID-19 after undergoing tests on Sunday. Previously, he had just traveled on a flight from Central Mexico.
Mexican health officials say they are working to identify people who may have had close contact with the Mexican president when he contracted it.
