JAKARTA - Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives praised the impressive performance of Indonesian athletes participating in the 2023 Rock Climbing World Cup or IFSC World Cup in Chamonix, France. Two Indonesian athletes won gold medals which made Indonesia unbeaten in the speed number.
The two athletes are Rahmad Adi Mulyono and Rajiah Sallsabilah. They won gold medals in the men's and women's speed categories.
The bronze medal in the men's speed event for the 2023 Chamonix Rock Climbing World Cup also belongs to Indonesia through Raharjati Nursamsa. Just like in the men's sector, the women's bronze speed medal was also won by Indonesian athlete, Nurul Iqamah.
"As a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives in charge of sports, I express my gratitude, appreciation, as well as congratulations to Indonesian athletes who won gold medals at the 2023 Rock Climbing World Cup in Chamonix," said Member of Commission X DPR RI, Andreas Hugo Pareira, Tuesday 11 July.
Rahmad Adi Mulyono from the men's speed number won a gold medal after recording the best time of 5.01 seconds in the final which was held on Sunday (9/7/).
Meanwhile, Rajiah Salsabillah presented gold from the women's speed number. She became the best after recording a time of 6.97 seconds in the final. Rajiah Salsabillah defeated the host athlete Andrier Victorie who recorded a time of 9.59 seconds.
"Our athletes have shown the world that we are a nation that does not know the word surrender. They are an inspiration to all of us because they have proven that Indonesia continues to shine in the world rock climbing event," said Andreas.
In addition to bringing home the gold medal, the red and white contingent also presented two bronze medals. According to Andreas, the bronze offerings from Nursamsa Raharjati and Lalu Nurul Iqomah have completed Indonesia's achievements in the long world rock cup event.
"Of course all of this is thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of the athletes and the entire Indonesian team contingent. This victory is a victory with the Indonesian people," said the legislator from the East Nusa Tenggara I electoral district.
Andreas hopes that the success of the Indonesian Rock Climbing team will not stop with the gold medal. According to him, the success of the Garuda team this time should be a provision for an increase in the achievement of rock climbing in the country, especially since Indonesian athletes continue to fly the Red and White flag at the international rock climbing event.
"This brilliant achievement has made the country proud. This is an example of hard work that does not betray the results. It must be a lesson for all of us, if we want to try, the results will come to follow," Andreas explained.

Commission X of the DPR, which is one of the fields of work related to sports affairs, also reminded the Government to pay more attention to national rock climbing athletes and teams. Because, said Andreas, Indonesian rock climbing athletes have continued to provide achievements so far.
"The state must be able to ensure that the outstanding athletes are not only superior in sports, but also have good access to education," he said.
"The scholarship program and flexible schedule arrangements allow athletes to run both successfully. In addition, the Government must also provide insurance protection and welfare allowances for athletes who are injured or have financial difficulties," Andreas continued.
The DPR also encourages the Government to understand that support for outstanding athletes is an important step in raising the nation's name and creating a strong sporting identity.
Andreas said the support could be in the form of increasing the budget, collaborating with the private sector, and adequate sports facilities. Then also with attention to the education and welfare of athletes, as well as seriousness in implementing sports coaching programs.
"The government must prove its commitment to bringing Indonesian sports to a higher international stage by paying attention to outstanding athletes," concluded Andreas.
