The SAR Team Is Still Looking For Garut Landslide Victims Who Are Buried In The Ground When Washing The Dishes
JAKARTA Two days have passed, but until now the joint Search And Rescue (SAR) Team is still searching for a resident buried by a cliff landslide in Sukanagara Village, Pendeuy District, Garut Regency, West Java.
"Today the joint team is still searching, the victim has not been found," said Head of the Garut Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Satria Budi, quoted from Antara, Sunday, July 9.
He said the joint team was searching for a resident identified as Yaya (50), a resident of Central Lembur Village, Sukanagara Village, Pendeuy District, who was buried in the ground while washing dishes not far from his house on Saturday afternoon, July 8.
The place where the victim carried out the washing activity, he said, was around a cliff as high as 10 meters and when the landslide occurred it was raining, the victim who was below was immediately buried by the ground.
"The pool was under a slope, suddenly the cliff collapsed covering the surrounding rice fields, including the pond, the victim did not have time to escape," he said.
With this incident, residents immediately searched, then local government officials coordinated with the Garut BPBD and Basarnas immediately conducted a search.
Satria conveyed that the search effort was carried out manually and with heavy equipment to facilitate the search for victims buried under the ground.
"We are coordinating with Basarnas who are authorized to search for victims, the team is already at the scene to look for victims," said Satria.

Head of the Bandung Basarnas Office, Jumaril, said that he had dispatched two teams with the main equipment of one Rescue Car Compartement unit equipped with other supporting equipment to carry out the search for victims.
The two teams, he said, came from the Tasikmalaya SAR Post whose headquarters were close to the scene, then added from the Bandung SAR Office team to help facilitate the search process.
"Hopefully with more members and equipment involved, we can speed up the search for victims, of course with the synergy of the team, related Forkopimda, and other joint SAR teams," said Jumaril.
