Alhamdulillah, OJK Approves The Establishment Of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk
JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has finally granted permission for the establishment of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk. (BSI) This statement was conveyed by the Deputy Commissioner for Public Relations and Logistics of OJK, Anto Prabowo in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 27.
As previously reported, BSI is a state-owned bank resulting from the merger of three existing state sharia banks, namely PT Bank Syariah Mandiri, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Syariah Tbk. (BRIS), and PT Bank Negara Indonesia Syariah (BNI Syariah).
"OJK issued a license to merge PT Bank Syariah Mandiri and PT Bank BNI Syariah into PT Bank BRIsyariah Tbk. as well as a Name Change Permit Using a Business Permit from PT Bank BRIsyariah Tbk to Become a Business License on behalf of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk as the Merged Bank, "said Anto in a press statement.
Meanwhile, this stipulation is contained in the official authority letter number: SR-3 / PB.1 / 2021 regarding the Granting of Indonesian Sharia Bank Permits. Then, the institution led by Wimboh Santoso obliged BSI to make further administrative adjustments.
"Furthermore, the Indonesian Sharia Bank will make arrangements for changes to the articles of association at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and changes / listing of shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange," said Anto.
To note, the government itself will widely introduce the Indonesian Sharia Bank to the public on 1 February. In its establishment, BSI will have total assets of IDR 240 trillion (temporary data for December 2020) with a core capital of around IDR 20 trillion.
Then, the merger of the three state-owned banks is projected to synergize 14.9 million customers with 20 thousand workers involved. Not only that, this financial service institution will utilize 1,200 outlets or branches and the automated teller machine (ATM) facilities provided for customers are claimed to be 1,785 units.
