The Spike In Chicken Prices Has A Small Impact On Inflation In Sukabumi
SUKABUMI - The Department of Trade and Industry (Disdagperin) of Sukabumi Regency said the soaring price of cut chicken in Sukabumi Regency, West Java, reached IDR 45,000 per kilogram (Kg) with a small impact on inflation.
"The inflation rate in Sukabumi Regency is still quite under control or not far from the national and provincial inflation average," said Head of Trade Distribution Facilities and Basic Materials Disdagperin, Sukabumi Regency, Ujang Zulkifli, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, June 28.
According to Ujang, currently the average inflation in Sukabumi Regency is at 4.53 percent or not far from the national inflation rate of 4 percent and West Java Province at 4.32 percent.
Although the prices of basic and important needs are one of the factors that most affect the movement of inflation figures, if only one commodity has soared prices such as broiler chicken, it will certainly not have a significant impact on fluctuations in the inflation rate.
This is because people can choose other products to meet their side dishes. Except for rice, which is a staple food or the main thing for the community, especially in Sukabumi Regency or in other words, no one has been able to replace rice as the main food.
However, from the results of direct data collection in several semi-modern markets, the price is still stable and affordable, such as premium rice being sold at a price of Rp. 14,000 to Rp. 15,000 per kg and medium rice of Rp. 11,000 to Rp. 12,000 per kg.
Although, it does not have much impact on the inflation rate, the Sukabumi Regency Government is still trying to control the price of the cut chicken so that the price does not continue to increase and can return to normal prices, which is below Rp. 40,000 per kg.
One of the efforts made by his party is to hold market operations and other activities in collaboration with the central government such as the Cheap Market Movement program launched by the National Food Agency.
This activity, which was held in several places, such as in Cibadak and Palabuhanratu sub-districts, is very helpful for the community because it can buy basic and important necessities below market prices.
His party also appreciated the Sukabumi Police for being responsive in helping the government to control the price of cut chicken, as he did this Wednesday by holding a cheap bazaar of chicken in Palabuhanratu Square.

On the other hand, he also appealed to the public not to panic about the current price fluctuation conditions, because the government, relevant agencies and other stakeholders continue to strive to control prices.
One of them is not buying goods that can have an impact on reducing supplies and on traders and distributors so as not to cheat, such as hoarding goods whose impact on supply and supply to the market is a step so that prices soar.
