The Food Agency Holds a Cheap Food Movement for Purebred Chicken to Stabilize Prices, Note the Location
JAKARTA - The National Food Agency together with the Regional Government, the Food Task Force, Perumda Dharma Jaya, Japfa Comfeed Indonesia (JCI), and PT Charoen Phokpand Indonesia (CPI), conducted an operation on the Race Chicken Meat market ahead of the Eid Al-Adha.
NFA head Arief Prasetyo Adi said the GPM will take place from June 28 to July 2, 2023 at more than 3.800 points throughout Indonesia.
"This GPM is our quick response with stakeholders in responding to fluctuations in the price of chicken meat ahead of Eid al-Adha and also an effort to maintain price stability after Eid al-Adha," Arief said in a statement received by VOI, Wednesday, June 28.
In its implementation, continued Aruef, around 3.866 cheap chicken meat market points were held through CPI support by optimizing the Prima Freshmart network, Poultry Kiosks and Yamiku which are spread throughout Indonesia.
As for the DKI Jakarta area, the implementation of GPM is supported by Dharma Jaya and JCI at 11 location points, namely:
1. Marunda flat
2. West Jatinegara Flats
3. Rawabebek flat
4. Flat Daan Mogot
5. Flat stage
6. Karang Anyar flat
7. Village of Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta
8. Angke Village, West Jakarta
9. Kelurahan Sirih, Central Jakarta
10. Tanjung Priok Village, North Jakarta
11. Manggarai Village, South Jakarta
For the eleven location points, the total volume sold to consumers per location point is in the range of 1-2 tons per day at a price of IDR 35.000-IDR 36.000 per head (weight 0.9-1.0 kg). GPM chicken meat serves the community with operating hours from 09.00 a.m. - 13.00 p.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) and 14.00 p.m. - 17.00 p.m. WIB.
To ensure that the implementation of the GPM for chicken meat runs in an orderly manner and the products are distributed properly to the public, Arief said this activity was intensely assisted by the NFA Team together with the DKI Jakarta Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture Agency (KPKP), and escorted by the Food Task Force Team.
"This fast move of GPM implementation is also inseparable from the support of poultry associations such as the Indonesian People's Poultry Association (Pinsar), the National Poultry Breeders Community (KPUN), and the Association of National Chicken Breeders Organizations (GOPAN) as well as the support of Independent People's Breeders who quickly supply chicken meat products for the implementation of GPM at a reasonable price. This is a good form of collaboration to support the National GPM which is here for the Indonesian people," he explained.
Furthermore, Arief reiterated that the increase in chicken meat prices was still within reasonable limits.
According to him, the information regarding the price of chicken meat in the DKI Jakarta area, which reaches IDR 50.000 per kg, is specifically for chicken fillet, not carcass chicken.
“The price of broiler meat is still within reasonable limits. Yesterday we checked directly to the market and to our merchant friends, for a chicken price of IDR 50.000 per kg, the price for boneless chicken fillets is different from the carcass. As for the price of carcass chickens weighing around 1.3-1.4 kg, the price is IDR 43.000 - IDR 44.000. So if converted, the price is still around IDR 36.000 per kg and that is still a reasonable price," he explained.
Meanwhile, in addition to initiating the implementation of the GPM which sells chicken meat at reasonable prices, the NFA has issued a letter of appeal to all business actors and poultry associations to sell purebred chicken at the reference price stipulated in the National Food Agency Regulation (Perbadan) Number 5 of 2022 concerning Reference Prices for Purchases at the Producer Level and Reference Prices for Sales at the Consumer Level for Commodities of Corn, Eggs, and Chicken Meat.

According to him, currently it has been observed that a number of food business actors have been selling purebred chicken meat at a price range of IDR 33.000-IDR 36.000 per kg.
"Since the issuance of the warning letter yesterday, a number of food business actors, such as Prima Freshmart, have started selling broiler chicken meat at 36 thousand rupiah per kg according to the National Food Agency's appeal. This will certainly support stability and really help the community, because Prima Fresh Mart has a range more than 3.600 outlets," he said.
