Becomes US Secretary Of State, Here Is Antony Blinken's Focus

JAKARTA - Senior diplomat Antony Blinken, approved by the United States Senate (US) to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government Cabinet of Joe Biden - Kamala Harris.

In a vote conducted Tuesday, January 26 local time, Blinken won 78 votes to 22 of the total 100 members of the Senate controlled by the Democratic Party, as reported by Reuters.

Proposed by Joe Biden, Blinken has been Biden's longtime confidant. Most recently, he served as Deputy Secretary of State during the Barack Obama and Joe Biden administrations.

Blinken pledged to work more closely with allies of the United States, after the previous Donald Trump Administration's foreign policy used an 'America First' approach.

He also promised to revitalize the damaged United States diplomacy, as well as build a united front to counter the challenges posed by Russia, China and Iran.
