Efforts To Achieve Higher Achievements At The 2023 Asian Games, Warming Up Towards The Olympics
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) or NOC Indonesia is aiming for better achievements at the 2023 Asian Games Hangzhou. This is also a warm-up for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
In the 2018 Asian Games Jakarta-Palembang edition, the Indonesian Team took fourth place in the final standings with 31 gold, 24 silver and 43 bronze medals. The target in Hangzhou is certainly more than that.
The chairman of KOI, Raja Sapta Oktohari, said that his party continues to encourage sports and other related parties to prepare themselves ahead of the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games.
The man who is familiarly called Okto added that his party and the NOC Indonesia Sport Development Commission (KSD) are still conducting a review with the national sports federation competed in the biggest sporting event in Asia.
"We and the review team have communicated with sports, and the communication process is still ongoing. Hopefully it can be completed ( WELL) later because the Asian Games preparations will definitely be longer," Okto said, as quoted by Antara.
Furthermore, Okto said that the Red and White Squad must optimize the momentum of the Hangzhou Asian Games. Not only for an increase in achievement, but also as a form of warming up to the 2024 Paris Olympics, France.
The biggest four-year sports party in the 19th edition of Asia will compete in 481 match/match numbers out of 61 disciplines from 40 sports.

Okto hopes that the Indonesian Team can perform optimally, considering that a number of sports have received sanctions or determinations to enter the 2024 Olympics qualifying process.
"There are sports that aresanctioned at the Olympics, and there are also (sports branches) that are the main challenges in us," said Okto.
"For example, archery, boxing, and hockey branches, they get sanctions, so that those who win are directly qualified at the Olympics. So, the numbers that are sanctioned must be specific, including athletics and aquatics, which have been the parameters to the Olympics," he added.
Meanwhile, to finalize preparations for the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games, KOI has appointed Basuki Hadimuljono as the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Team in the multi-branch event.
"And the hope is that under Chef de Mission, Pak Basuki Hadimuljono, I think communication (regarding the preparation of the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games) will be easier and the results are expected to be maximized," said Okto.
The 2023 Asian Games Hangzhou is scheduled to take place on September 23 and last for two weeks.
