Garut Police Investigate Imported Steel Theft Worth IDR 6 Billion

Garut Resort Police (Polres) is investigating the theft of modern rice milling machine steel imported from Germany with a loss of Rp. 6 billion at the PT Bumi Arta Dynamics factory in Banyuresmi District, Garut Regency, West Java.

"Currently the case is still under our investigation," said Head of the Garut Police Criminal Investigation Unit AKP Deni Nurcahyadi as reported by ANTARA, Friday, June 23.

He said the police had received information about the alleged theft at a modern rice mill in Banyuresmi District.

The police, he said, are still investigating the crime scene by collecting evidence in the field and witness statements to be able to uncover the case.

"We have received the report and we have also processed the crime scene," he said.

President Director of PT Bumi Arta Dynamics, modern rice milling factory company Dini Maria said that the thieves had taken goods in the form of machinery, steel, andgypts in the factory environment.

The theft of goods in the factory, he said, was only discovered on Thursday (22/6) night, which is estimated to have a large loss of around Rp. 6 billion.

"Approximately Rp. 6 billion," said Dini when interviewed by reporters regarding the value of the loss from the theft.

He said the items that were lost at the factory were an imported steel frame from Germany, which the entire steel frame on the rice milling machine had disappeared with thieves.

The thief's actions, he said, left a trail like a broken lock. The perpetrator stole the machine's steel using a welding device.
