Progress Reaches 51.63 Percent, Smelter PT AMNT Targeted To Finish Mid-2024
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo accompanied by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif directly inspected the progress of the construction of the PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) smelter in West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province on Tuesday, June 20.
Through this visit, the President emphasized the importance of downstreaming the industry in order to realize an Advanced Indonesia.
"I just want to make sure that the progress is in accordance with the planning and is completed in the middle of next year," said Jokowi, quoted on Wednesday, June 21.
This statement from the President is based on the results of the latest verification of the progress of the construction of the PT AMNT smelter carried out by the investment team and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources which has reached 51.63 percent, the President believes that the construction of this smelter can be completed according to the set target.
"God willing, in mid-2024 it will be finished," said Jokowi.
Furthermore, Jokowi hopes that industrialization can also be carried out in derivatives of the resulting copper cathode in order to provide added value and as much employment as possible.

The President also said that when the smelter construction has been completed and is ready to produce well from nickel, copper, bauxite, and lead, it will provide the greatest added value for the domestic economy.
"Both in the form of export value, as well as opening up as many job opportunities as possible," said Jokowi.
