Pochettino's Dismissal And United Fans' Disguised Blessings
LONDON - Mauricio Pochettino has just been fired by Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester United fans immediately urged club officials to bring the Argentine coach to Old Trafford.
Although the news of the end of Pochettino's coaching career with Spurs appeared since Monday, November 18 evening, the world of football was stunned when Pochettino's departure was actually announced in the club's official statement 24 hours later.
Club CEO Daniel Levy said on Tuesday night they had a very tough decision to make. But if a decision is made in the end, don't be hasty.
“Regrettable domestic results at the end of last season and the start of this season have been very disappointing. "It is the responsibility of the Board to make difficult decisions - in which these are made more in light of the many memorable moments we have with Mauricio and his coaching staff - but we do so in the best interest of the Club," Levy said in an official club statement.

It's not just Pochettino. Assistant coaches like Jesus Perez, Miguel D'Agostino, and Antoni Jimenez also picked up the suitcase from London. This situation made former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher react by saying; '(Spurs are doing something that is) out of place'.
"It's shocking. The work he (Pochettino) is doing is miraculous, we deserve to see him at least until the end of the season. I was shocked by this dismissal. When I heard the news, I thought this was the result of a mutual agreement. But the fact that he was fired, is really strange. and a little out of the ordinary considering the work he's been doing, "says Carragher. Launching Sky Sports, Wednesday, November 20.
Pochettino has led the Spurs to the top four for four consecutive seasons since taking charge of the club. In the 2018/19 Champions League season, Spurs made a miracle when they beat Manchester City and Ajax in the knockout round. Unfortunately, at the top of the party they had to admit Liverpool's greatness which won 2-0.
However, Spurs' domestic form has been lousy for most of 2019. Since winning 3-1 at Leicester in February, they have won only six times in 24 games. Currently, Harry Kane et al are even in 14th place in the Premier League standings and have been eliminated by the League Two Colchester team from the Carabao Cup.
With the status of a free agent, Pochettino is now in demand by United fans. They want the coach to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The former Espanyol and Southampton boss has long been linked with the Red Devils and is expected to be United's target again in March.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer, from the 12 Premier League matches he played, he was only able to give United four wins. A difference of nine points from Manchester City who are in fourth place or the final slot for the Champions League next season.
United's courage to sack Solskjaer and appoint Pochettino is still something we have to wait for. But certainly in the Spurs camp, former United boss Jose Mourinho is said to be going to replace Pochettino.
