Ministry Of Religion Predicts Eid To Fall On Thursday 29 June
JAKARTA - Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri is estimated to fall on June 29, 2023 based on the position of hilal.
Anggota Tim Hisab Rukyat Kemenag Ahmad Izzudin menyampaikan bahwa posisi hilal awal Zulhijah 1444 Hijriah masih di bawah kriteria yang disepakat oleh Menteri Agama Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, dan Singapura (MABIMS).
"In all parts of Indonesia, the position of the hilal on 29 Zulqaidah 1444 Hijriah is already above the horizon. However, it is still under the criteria for the MABIMS rukyat imkanur," he said when delivering an explanation regarding the position of the hilal ahead of the trial. the initial determination of Zulhijah 1444 Hijriah at the Office of the Ministry of Religion, Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday 18 June.
According to the new criteria for MABIMS, he explained, the hilal can be observed if the moon has a minimum height of 3 degrees and an elongation of at least 6.4 degrees.
Meanwhile, according to Izzudin, at the time of Maghrib on June 18, 2023, the position of the moon in Indonesia was 0 degrees 20 minutes to 2 degrees 36 minutes with an elongation angle of 4 degrees 40 minutes to 4 degrees 94 minutes.
"Looking at the data, then on Sunday, June 18, 2023, throughout Indonesia, according to the new MABIMS correction criteria, it is predicted that it cannot be observed," he said.

Izzudin said, if the data is associated with the potential for astronomical rukyatul hilal or reckoning, it is possible that the beginning of Zulhijah's month falls on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, or Eid al-Adha falls on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
However, the initial determination of Zulhijah will be determined in the isbat trial.
This year, the Ministry of Religion deployed a rukyatul hilal team at 99 points throughout Indonesia. The teams will report the results of rukyatul hilal, which was used as a consideration in the initial determination of Zulhijah 1444 Hijriah.
