AMBON - Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan visited Mardika Market in Ambon City, Maluku on Sunday 18 June. The Trade Minister checked prices and the availability of basic necessities.
During a visit to a number of traders' stalls, the man who is familiarly called Zulhas said that the prices of a number of basic necessities were still stable, such as rice, broiler eggs, chicken meat, shallots and garlic, cayenne pepper.
"Long curly chili is quite expensive because the price reaches Rp. 70,000 per kilogram," he said, confiscated by Antara.
According to Zulkifli, the price of long curly chilies in Ambon is still expensive, while cayenne pepper or red chilies are normal at IDR 40,000 per kilogram, in contrast to Java where cayenne pepper is more expensive, and curly chilies are cheaper.
However, other basic needs are still stable in price and in order to stay under control, it is necessary to maintain and increase supply to the market, because if there are many goods, the price is stable.
"You have to adjust the supply or supply to the market from the production center, if the goods are not available, the price will move up," he said.
