Ministry Of Transportation Perfects Helicopter Night Flight Regulations

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is perfecting regulations related to licensing for helicopter transportation operations while flying at night.

Director of Aircraft Feasibility and Operation (KPPU) of the Ministry of Transportation M Mauludin said that so far his party is still reviewing aspects of safety on helicopter transport flights in Indonesia.

"Our regulations are ready to socialize with the relevant ministries. But most importantly we have to have many places where helicopters can land an emergency," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 15.

According to him, the flight operational regulation at night must involve Airnav (Perum Institute for Indonesian Aviation Navigation Services) and local governments.

The reason is, helicopter flights that cross an area must have certain requirements that must be met.

"We must cooperate with the DPRD, the Regional Government to prepare a need to support it. So that later the operation (night flight) will run well," he said.

According to him, the growth in helicopter transportation in Indonesia is growing rapidly in the market sector. Because, it is proven from passengers who often use helicopter transportation every month, it always increases.

"I think now the growth in helicopter transportation in Indonesia is good. From the market needs, it's good," he said.

In the development of air transportation, it can also be used as medical evacuation transportation by several institutions to minimize the death rate that occurs due to accidents.

"We can see that in terms of the large number of merapi mountains that erupted, for the fastest emergency, like it or not, helicopters are one of the most effective air transportation," he said.
