South Sumatra LRT Rates Are Free During Palembang City Anniversary

PALEMBANG - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) together with the South Sumatra Light Train Management Center (BPKARSS) made free tariffs for the South Sumatra LRT mode on June 17, 2023, or to coincide with the celebration of the Anniversary to 1,340 Palembang City.

Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Divre III Palembang Aida Suryanti said the anniversary of the city of Palembang this year is a moment back to socialize the movement using public transportation, by imposing free tickets at the South Sumatra LRT, so that people can enjoy traveling by public transportation.

"This promo is a form of PT KAI's participation as an LRT operator with BPKARSS and the Palembang City Government (Pemkot) in celebrating the birthday of Palembang City," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 15.

However, even though the South Sumatra LRT tariff is free, people must have a QR ticket or manual with a nominal value of Rp. 0 obtained at the counter of 13 LRT stations that day.

"But if passengers use an electronic money card, they will be charged Rp1 because the nominal will be cut directly and automatically electronically when passengers tap on the gate, and on the day of implementation our officers at the station will direct passengers to use a QR ticket or manual so that passengers can enjoy the South Sumatra LRT trip with tickets worth Rp. 0," he said.

There are 94 daily trips for South Sumatra LRT operations, starting at 05.06 to 20.43 WIB and 17 minutes of inter-headway distance. Ticket price of Rp. 5,000 for and to airport station, Rp. 10,000 for and from airport stations.

The number of LRT passengers in the period January 1 to May 31, 2023 was 1,555,692 passengers, with a daily average of 10,303 passengers and a monthly average of 311,150 passengers.

In addition, Aida said to support the connectivity of the South Sumatra LRT and provide convenience and maximize the affordability of the South Sumatra LRT for the community and complete integration between previous modes.

Currently, there are seven LRT Musi Emas feeder corridors and will increase gradually, namely Polresta LRT Station - via OPI complex, RSUD-via Sukawinatan Station, Hajj Dormitory LRT Station - via Talang Betutu, DJKA Station via Pasar Plaju Terminal, Cambodia - Bukit Siguntang via Demang LRT Station, Talang Kelapa - Bad Talang via Hajj Dormitory, and Hajj Dormitory - Sematang Borang via Jalan Nurdin Panji.

"The existence of this LRT Musi Gold feeder is one of the efforts to answer the needs of feeder transportation (feeder) for the LRT user community," he said.
