Bengkulu Al Iman Islamic Boarding School Activities Stop Following 24 Positive Covid-19 Students

JAKARTA - Teaching and learning activities at the Al Iman Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes) in the residential unit (SP) V, Air Muntungo District, Bengkulu, stopped following 24 students who were confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Head of Section for Religious and Religious Education, Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Mukomuko Regency, Timsar Siregar, reported by Antara, said that the initial case started with 1 student who was confirmed positive.

"After an incident, one student was confirmed positive for COVID-19, then the students were picked up by their parents to undergo independent isolation at their respective homes, so there were no teaching and learning activities at this pesantren," he said, Monday, January 25.

This needs to be conveyed to the public following the massive information circulating in the community about the pasantren that continue to be active even though their students are exposed to this dangerous virus from China.

Especially for students who get positive COVID-19, they will undergo independent isolation in their homes for 14 days. If it's negative then they are allowed to enter again.

"The pesantren previously held a meeting involving various sub-district parties, the police and the Ministry of Religion regarding santri who were positive for COVID-19 and as a result the students were sent home and they could return to the dormitory after the results were tested negative," he explained.

Of the 392 students in the boarding school, 277 of them took a swab test and underwent independent isolation in their respective homes. The rest, still follow online teaching and learning activities.

The Mukomuko Regency COVID-19 Handling Task Force said that since the last few days as many as 34 people have been confirmed positive for COVID-19, 24 of them are students of the Al Iman Islamic Boarding School in Air Muntungo District.

"Yesterday's data there were an additional 34 positive cases of COVID-19 in this area, 24 of whom were students of the Al Iman Islamic Boarding School, Air Mjauho District," said Head of the Mukomuko District Health Office Desriani.
